'Gotham' has released a brand-new, villain-themed promotional clip for its upcoming, second season, and apparently, it keeps teasing The Joker.

Gotham landed on our television screens last year and even though the first season did have its flaws, there’s no denying that the show made an impression. With its second season coming to Fox this fall, the series now has a villain-themed promo which only further teases the biggest of all bads.

There’s no DC Comics fan that doesn’t simply know deep down inside that Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) is the Joker. Gotham might have yet to confirm it, but the show has been long-teasing this theory and keeps doing the same in the brand-new trailer, titled “Villains Rising”. Among old and new villains, we get to see the circus boy in action once again, with his hysterical laugh not allowing the viewer to care about anything else going on in the 40-second clip, as hype is built for the iconic villain’s appearance. If the promo is anything to judge from, it’s safe to assume that the second season of the series will find Jim Gordon even busier than before.

It will definitely be interesting to find out if Gotham will be following the Joker storyline after all, especially since the show has the opportunity to tell his origin story. Creating all that buzz around this theory isn’t bad at all, but let’s hope they won’t ridiculously scrap it in the end.

Gotham will be returning to Fox with its second season on September 21. For the time being, take a peek at the villains rising below.
