Being in Connecticut, it’s not often that high-end projects happen in your neighbourhood. With New York City on one side and Boston to the North, there are plenty of places to film an A-list Hollywood movie.
However, Hollywood has once again picked filming locations in Connecticut for their latest project. And So It Goes, a movie directed by Rob Reiner and starring Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton is filming in Bridgeport, on Captain’s Cove and at Lake Compounce Theme Park in Bristol.
Bridgeport was selected for its view of the marina and Long Island Sound and because it boasted an empty house that the crew could redesign for certain scenes. The movie is filming on Ferris Street, a small cul-de-sac on the water. Neighbours say that they wish they had gotten more notice but don’t mind the crews. Donna Andrade, who owns a home on the corner of Ferris Street and Harbor Avenue noted that although numerous cars with New York and New Jersey license plates have lined the small street for weeks, they are always careful not to block anyone’s driveway.
The crews are also performing free improvements to the area such as cleaning up the waterfront and replacing a drooping fence at a local restaurant which will be in the background of some scenes. They are also planting flowers in the area to help beautify it. Captain’s Cove, an island off of the CT coast in Long Island Sound is home to all the actors and crew so they don’t have to shut down roads to park the trailers.
Lake Compounce Theme Park will be used as a backdrop for some scenes in which the main character, played by Douglas, takes his new-found granddaughter to an amusement park. Park-goers may catch a glimpse of Keaton or Douglas and may even get an unnamed cameo appearance in the background of a shot. Talk about getting your fifteen minutes of fame.
Connecticut has previously been host to scenes from Revolutionary Road starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Righteous Kill starring Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro, and All Good Things starring Ryan Gosling.
