Hungary is fighting back against Monsanto and genetic modification. Over one thousand acres of maize, proven to have been planted with genetically modified seeds, has been destroyed.

In Hungary, genetically modified seeds are banned. Due to this stance, authorities intend to find out not only where these crops came from but where they can be found in their own fields.

In May 2015, new EU legislation was passed to make GMO crops legal in all countries unless they choose to opt out. Hungary has yet to do so, but, after this stunt, we’re sure to see that decision in the near future.
