HURTS are currently deep in the promotional era for their forthcoming album, Surrender. With a couple of singles already out and making a great impression, the duo has now released another countdown single from the record, titled “Lights”.
Crafted by Ariel Rechtshaid (Madonna, Brandon Flowers, HAIM, Sky Ferreira), “Lights” serves as a different kind of tune for HURTS. For once, Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson leave their significant melancholy aside and deliver a more funky kind of soul-pop tune. The strings go wild throughout the playful production, with the synths-driven beat and Adam’s sweet falsetto on top of them taking the melody to a whole different level. The duo is found doing catchy here, but doing it the right way – their way, and delivering an addictive jam. If anything, we definitely want to hear more of that from them!
“Lights” serves as the third offering from the band’s upcoming, third studio album, Surrender. It’s a follow-up to lead single “Some Kind Of Heaven” and the outstanding “Rolling Stone”. The record is expected to come out on October 9, but at least HURTS might keep gracing us with countdown singles until then. For the time being, take a listen to the new track below.
