Jennifer Lopez is returning to her rom-com roots—with a twist!
In her new movie Second Act, to be released this fall, J.Lo stars as a retail employee named Maya who has aspirations of a more successful career. After some clever resume and LinkedIn-tweaking courtesy of a friend's son (hello, Photoshopped pics with the Obamas!), Maya finds herself thrust up a corporate ladder she never expected to be climbing.
Costarring Lopez’s real-life BFF Leah Remini, Second Act has Lopez’s character already paired off romantically (with costar Milo Ventimiglia) and instead seeking professional fulfilment—with plenty of pratfalls and shenanigans along the way, of course!

Whether it’s cohosting World of Dance on NBC, starring in the just-wrapped TV drama Shades of Blue (also on NBC), launching a beauty collaboration with Inglot, performing in her smash Las Vegas show Jennifer Lopez: All I Have, jetting around the world with boyfriend Alex Rodriguez . . . phew, how does she do it all? Lopez shared her philosophy for juggling everything with ABC News earlier this summer: “Women are multitaskers, and we can do anything if we put our minds to it. I truly believe that.”
