Jim Parsons Sheds Light On Big Bang Theory “Strike”

Way back in July, we reported the problems that were preventing the eighth season of The Big Bang Theory from shooting as planned on July 30th. The matter was resolved and, a week later, filming on the eighth season commenced.

Jim Parsons, one of the three main stars now earning around $1,000,000 per episode, spoke to Entertainment Weekly about how hostile the situation actually got.

“I always thought everything would be worked out by the start date. When it wasn’t, it certainly wasn’t a good feeling, but there was absolutely no getting around the fact that everything had to be dealt with and finished before we could get back.”

He continued, laughing about the blown-out-of-proportion situation. “You see the word ‘strike’ — ‘They’re walking out!’– but there was nothing to walk out from.”

Parsons then added, “That’s always hard, because part of you wants to explain to people what’s really going on. ‘Don’t worry, we’re not leaving, we want to do the show’!”

Parsons received two nominations from this year’s Emmy Awards-Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie (The Normal Heart) and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (The Big Bang Theory)- the latter of which he won for the fourth time at Monday’s show.
