Former Daily Show correspondents Stephen Colbert and John Oliver are teaming up to bring us the post-election special we so desperately need.

Former Daily Show correspondents Stephen Colbert and John Oliver are teaming up to bring us the post-election special we so desperately need.

This election has seemed almost unbearably long, but there is an end in sight. Thankfully, in less than two months, the nightmare than has been the campaign trail for the 2016 Presidential Election will end, for better or for worse. When that time finally comes, two of our favourite late night comedians will team up to give us a retrospective on the entire process.

The Daily Show alums John Oliver and Stephen Colbert — now both with their own shows — are set to team up on November 19 for a live event entitled Wow, That Was Weird: A Post-Election Evening with Stephen Colbert and John Oliver. So far, the description of the event tells us that we can expect:

“…a hilarious exchange on everything from their comic influences to the past political season. Wow, That Was Weird: A Post-Election Evening With Stephen Colbert And John Oliver features the pair onstage, having fun over the November election, which will have ended.”

Another report states that it:

“…will feature the pair in an hilarious, on-stage exchange on everything from their comic influences to the political season that will have concluded with the November election.”

John Oliver and the writing team at Last Week Tonight did their best to ignore Donald Trump and his bid for presidency. For a long time, Oliver insisted that they would not speak about Trump, nor would they invite him on their show. Eventually, Trump’s success with his campaign forced their hand, and they aired an amazing episode, revealing just a few of the many reasons Trump is less than suitable for President. In addition to being a brilliant takedown on its own, the episode is famous for introducing the phrase “Make Donald Drumpf Again“, a nod to his family’s heritage.

Stephen Colbert has used his platform as the host of The Late Show to point out the flaws in both the Trump campaign and Hillary Clinton’s run. Perhaps most famously, Colbert dissected Trump’s response to the Orlando shooting in a brilliant, hilarious, and poignant way.

While both Oliver and Colbert are former The Daily Show correspondents, they didn’t share too many segments. Oliver has been a guest on Colbert’s The Late Show a number of times, however, and the two always have amazing chemistry. Their joint show is sure to be a fantastic, hilarious, and insightful event.

The event will be held live at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and tickets go on sale on September 23. Proceeds will go to The Montclair Film Festival, “New Jersey’s leading film non-profit”. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster, and njpac.org. There is no word yet on whether or not the event will be rebroadcast.
