Johnny Depp can't be stopped by a Rolling Stone article as he shows up as Grindelwald for SDCC's Fantastic Beasts 2 panel. The magical cast and crew, were of course, a part of comic con, gifting us a new trailer for Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald before its November release to theaters. Depp’s appearance was a complete surprise, a very welcome one, as he was not set to be a part of the panel. His involvement in this film as Grindelwald, and presence are receiving mixed reactions but we are very excited about both.

Onto the film, the new trailer introduces us to Nicolas Flamel, a name we haven’t heard since the very first book in the Wizarding World universe, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Flamel was the creator of the stone Voldemort was so deviously after in his journey to return. Fantastic Beasts 2 brings back the characters we fell in love with in the first movie along with some new faces: Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston), Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler), Queenie Goldstein (Alison Sudol), Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law), and Credence Barebone (Ezra Miller).

We get to see Hogwarts again for this film, a place we always long to visit. It shows us some scenes of Depp as Grindelwald, more then we’ve ever glimpsed, and we are getting very excited about his work in this film. Jacob gets a very funny moment at the end, relieving all the tension in this intense trailer. Newt was picked by Dumbledore for this task (hopefully in his youth, Dumbledore was more generous with the details), one he can’t do himself. And, Credence somehow survived his ending in the first film, but that doesn’t mean we know what he’ll be up to next, or which side he will be on. Have a look at some moments from the panel at SDCC.
