Kat Graham of 'The Vampire Diaries' fame is kicking off the era for her debut studio album with a '90s-inspired single, titled "1991".

You’re probably familiar with Kat Graham thanks to her role on The CW’s The Vampire Diaries, but the actress is also a very promising singer. Even though she has been absent for a couple of years now, she has now returned to music with a brand-new single, titled “1991″.

As the title suggests, the songstress is taking us back to the 90′s with “1991″, which serves as a perfect throwback-pop anthem. The producer responisble for the track, Jean-Yves “Jeeve” Ducornet, has provided Kat Graham with an insanely good and jam-ready melody here, which is taken to a whole other level thanks to a sample from TLC’s “What About Your Friends”. There’s no denying that she sings perfectly on top of the hard-hitting instrumental, which features the required urban-tinged vibes of the era. She even nails the short-lived rap verse during the bridge, which goes perfectly with the overall flow.

Releasing a track like “1991″ in the modern era might be kind of risky, but it will definitely be well-appreciated among the 90′s kids. According to Kat Graham, her forthcoming, debut studio album has a throwback vibe in its entirety, so there’s more where that came from! No matter if it turns out to be a hit for her or not, it’s still a great tune and deserves a listen, so go press play below.
