Kevin Smith is indeed bringing Clerks 3 to the big screen!

While speaking on Randal Reflects, one of many podcasts in Smith’s Smodcast Network, he and “Randal” himself (actor Jeff Anderson) revealed plenty about the first two Clerks films and also a few new bits about the upcoming film.

  • Anderson, who will obviously return, has read the script and says that he feels like the tone of this one is a little different but fits somewhere between the first and second Clerks films.
  • To that Smith added: “It’s kind of like The Empire Strikes Back of the Clerks movies. It doesn’t tell the middle story… but it has that kind of feeling.”
  • The film will start in black and white and then shift to color after the first ten minutes – but that’s actually tied to he story in some way.
  • Smith says that Jay and Silent Bob, the most famous slacker-duo to ever come out of New Jersey, are back as well. “They’re in the movie as much as they were in Clerks and Clerks 2.”
  • The production will likely start up in June after Smith finishes his current project Krampus.

Smith and Anderson waxed nostalgic about the first movies, their origins and all things Clerks on the podcast and you can listen right here:
