There have been tons of special shows about Kurt Cobain, his life and death, but none of them have been official or anything. As it seems,HBO will be delivering the very first completely authorized documentary about Nirvana’s frontman next year.

Titled Montage Of Heck, it sees Brett Morgen on writing, directing and producing duties, while the late singer’s daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, will be executive producing the project. The title comes from one of Kurt Cobain’s mixtapes, which recently found its way online. As it seems, the documentary has been in the works for a very long time and will finally be brought to light in 2015. According to Morgen:

“I started work on this project eight years ago. Like most people, when I started, I figured there would be limited amounts of fresh material to unearth. However, once I stepped into Kurt’s archive, I discovered over 200 hours of unreleased music and audio, a vast array of art projects (oil paintings, sculptures), countless hours of never-before-seen home movies, and over 4,000 pages of writings that together help paint an intimate portrait of an artist who rarely revealed himself to the media.”

It’s definitely a good thing that Montage Of Heck will revisit the late rocker’s life, work and tragic death. It is especially remarkable that it will all get done on authorized grounds, meaning there’s no room for not being credible and fooling around or anything. HBO’s documentary will give new generations a great opportunity to be introduced with the late Kurt Cobain, while it will be a pleasure to remember him for the older ones.
