Maya Rudolph Debuts Her Rachel Dolezal Impression

Former SNL star Maya Rudolph sat down with Seth Meyers to discuss their glory days, and to debut an impression of a recent news icon.

Former SNL star Maya Rudolph sat down with Seth Meyers to discuss their glory days, and to debut an impression of a recent news icon.

Maya Rudolph appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers last night, and the two were quick to reminisce about their hugely successful careers at Saturday Night Live. After mentioning Tina Fey’s Sarah Palin impression, Meyers pointed out that often, once you leave SNL, there are several newsworthy people worthy of being made into a classic impression by a previous castmember. Rudolph (who hasn’t been on SNL since 2007) said she had been told “daily” that she would have done a spot-on Rachel Dolezal impression.

For those of you who don’t know, Rachel Dolezal is a white woman who claimed she was black until she was outed by her parents who stated that she was, in no way, anything but white.

After being prompted by Meyers, Rudolph then slipped into an afro wig and did a pretty perfect impression of Dolezal in an interview where a reporter asked if her parents were African-American, to which Dolezal responded “I don’t understand the question”.

Albeit a pretty controversial news story, Rudolph was quick to get a laugh, and we hope she gets back on SNL if for nothing else but to perform a polished Dolezal! Now that’s something I’m sure everyone wants to see.
