Mel Gibson’s Pop 10 Films

10. Lethal Weapon

This movie went on to create a great series of films where Gibson brought the crazy cop Martin Riggs to life, and it has also spawned a successful TV series that premiered in 2016.

9. Pocahontas

We would argue that John Smith, voiced by GIbson, was the first cartoon crush for many young girls. We have to bring this film out because this was a family-friendly Gibson, which is not the case with most of his films.

8. The Patriot

We have seen Gibson play many war heroes, one of which belongs much further down on this list, but this film was amazing. It even featured a young Heath Ledger.

7. Conspiracy Theory

This movie is a wild ride from start to finish. Gibson stars alongside Julia Roberts and Patrick Stewart in this tale of complete insanity.

6. What Women Want

Mirror

This film belongs on this list because of the magnificent Helen Hunt and the funny side of Mel Gibson. We see it a lot in interviews but rarely in films.

5. Ransom

An intense film which brought Gibson back together with his Lethal Weapon love, Rene Russo.

4. Forever Young

This film is heartbreaking and really lets us see a softer side of Gibson as he realizes his time is running out. Shoutout to a very young Elijah Wood who joins him in this film.

3. Payback

This is your classic tale of revenge, but it’s done so well by Mel Gibson that it deserves to be on this list. It’s a late 90s classic.

2. Maverick

Another film from the 90s which features poker and an all-star cast. Period pieces look good on Gibson.

1. Braveheart

Rolling Stone

This film needs no words. It was an eloquent and beautiful tale that will forever have us yelling, “Freedom!”
