Nene Leakes of Real Housewives of Atlanta and Glee fame tweeted that she was “blessed to be alive” after she was hospitalized Monday, Nov. 18 for what turned out to be blood clots in her lung.
Leakes tweeted a photo of herself with IVs inserted into her arms while she lay in a hospital bed in a hospital gown, saying:
Just the day before she tweeted that she had “been very sick for the past couple of days.” She followed up with an explanation on November 19, countering rumours of a heart attack and thanking her fans for their concern on her website.
“First and foremost, I so dearly love and appreciate each and every one of you for your concern and your prayers,” Leakes wrote. “Late last week I wasn’t feeling well and was feeling a little short of breath. I know my body and I know when I should be concerned so I went to the hospital to get checked out. After some routine tests I was diagnosed with blood clots in my lung. I’m told this happened to me because of the constant travelling around the country that I do for my job.”
