It was pretty obvious that it would be him, but I can’t say I’m unhappy with the choice.

Sam Smith has officially announced that he will be performing the next James Bond theme song for the upcoming film Spectre. While there has been no official press release from the studio, Smith himself confirmed it only minutes ago on his official Facebook page, writing:

This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.

There has also been an announcement from the official James Bond Twitter page this morning, confirming both the title and artist of the Spectre theme.

The song, entitled “Writing’s on the Wall”, will be featured in the upcoming James Bond film Spectre, to be released on October 26th in the UK, and November 6th in the USA.
