Following the departure of Zayn Malik, the four remaining members of One Direction are moving on to a whole new era. The guys have released their brand-new single as a four-piece, “Drag Me Down”, which now has a music video to go by.
The Ben & Gabe Turner-directed visuals for the Jamie Scott, Julian Bunetta and John Ryan-crafted “Drag Me Down” find Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson taking over NASA’s Johnson Space Center. The boys of One Direction get to mess with all kinds of modern technology, as they prepare for a space trip. In between, they simply appear singing along to the track, before they eventually launch and the adventure begins. Generally, the clip is a 3-minute metaphor about reaching for the sky, as no one has the ability to drag you down.
“Drag Me Down” serves as the lead single to be lifted from the boyband’s upcoming, fifth, as-yet-untitled studio album that is expected to come out later this year. The record will be a follow-up to 2014′s Four. It’s definitely a new beginning for One Direction, but they seem to be doing just fine, don’t they? Check them out in action below.
