Deadline has reported that the film is to be turned into a television series and NBC has already ordered the pilot. The remake is set to be co-written by Jack Orman and ER’s John Wells.

If you think this one sounds weird, NBC has a number of other series floating about including a remake of the 1968 smash hit horror film, Rosemary’s Baby, a sitcom about a mermaid, and the brainchild of Arrow’s Greg Berglanti – a futuristic prison drama.

Okay so weird or not, these do all sound like they could be awesome… We cannot wait to check out the pilots!

The movie version of Outbreak, grossed over $190 million back in 1995 with big names like Kevin Spacey, Donald Sutherland and Rene Russo bolstering it to a box office win.

Let’s hope the TV show brings NBC as much success.

Wolfgang Peterson and Gail Katz are expected to be involved in the pilot, so maybe as director and producer of the original film they will act as good luck charms!
