Bolivar Trask may be the “main villain” in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but Peter Dinklage now sees him a different way.

The Game of Thrones star “didn’t want to play the villain,” and defended character Trask in the Bryan Singer movie.

“He actually sees what he’s doing as a good thing – [his ambition is] definitely blind and he’s quite arrogant. He’s strove all his life for a certain respect and attention,” Dinklage explained to Entertainment Weekly. “I didn’t want to play the villain. He’s a man of science. He’s a man of invention.

Trask is the creator of the Sentinel robots who are designed to save the world against the X-Men mutants that Trask sees as a threat to his goal of protecting humans from extinction. The industry was the subject of a marketing campaign when the Sentinel robots inner workings were shown on a map.
