The Gambit, starring Channing Tatum as the main character, will have to find a new director as Rupert Wyatt has left the project due to scheduling conflict.
In a statement, the Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes director said:
I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.
Rumours abound that disagreements arose because of budgeting and script conflicts, but Studio Fox has denied this.
Filming was originally supposed to begin in November but has now been pushed to March of 2016.
You may remember seeing the popular comic book character on the big screen back in 2009 where he had a small role in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, played by Taylor Kitsch.
Rupert Wyatt joined the film project earlier this summer with Tatum, making an official announcement after during his appearance at this year’s Comic Con. With filming having to be moved to next year, this caused a problem for the director, who sadly has to step down.
The film is scheduled to be released in October 2016 and also stars actress Lea Seydoux, as Bella Donna Bourdreaux, who will also be seen in the new Bond film, Spectre.
