Last week, Johnny secured a meeting with his old assistant about his pitch to expand the Rosebud Motel. This week, Team Rosebud Motel (Johnny, Stevie, and Roland) travel in style to New York City to deliver their pitch in person.

In New York City

It has been a long time since Johnny has been in a pitch meeting. Things get off to a rocky start at the meeting—Mike Morrison, Johnny’s contact, isn’t there, Roland needs water, technology fails them, and everyone’s a little nervous. Johnny tries to get the presentation off the ground with little success. Everyone in the room decides to take a five-minute breather.

Team Rosebud Motel regroups and go back into the meeting and deliver the pitch they came to deliver. We really see why Johnny was so successful with Rose Video once upon a time, he’s a great salesman. He expertly sells the charm and history of motels and small towns to the investors. They leave the pitch meeting feeling great, like they really nailed it. However, Roland left his empty (he just brought it to look intimidating) briefcase in the conference room. He goes back to the room to find the investors laughing at Johnny. It’s heartbreaking. Then Roland does the unexpected. Roland stands up for Johnny, telling the investors he’s a legend and that it was hard for Johnny to do what he did today.

Before Team Rosebud Motel leaves, Mike’s assistant, Ruth catches up with them in the lobby. She sadly tells them the investors aren’t going to go for it. However, Ruth says that she loved the pitch and her and a couple of partners are starting their own firm and that she’d love to do business with them. Johnny is hesitant but Roland tells him the investors don’t deserve to be in business with Johnny and Stevie says she’s getting good vibes from Ruth. Ruth offers to take them to lunch to learn more and Johnny accepts. They have an investor!

In Schitt’s Creek

Back in Schitt’s Creek, everyone’s a little anxious about the meeting currently happening. Moira has so much confidence that it will go well that she starts packing, assuming they will be moving to New York. When Alexis finds her packing, Alexis ponders the idea of going to Interflix since they seemed interested in her work on the Crows movie. Then David comes in and finds Alexis already looking at apartments in New York for her, David and Patrick. David figures he and Patrick will move Rose Apothecary to the city, which would be a great market for them and gets caught up in the excitement of moving to New York, too. Even though he says there are a lot of “what ifs”.

David goes back to the store and tells Patrick the good news. But Patrick doesn’t see this as good news. Their business is in Schitt’s Creek, they have a history in Schitt’s Creek. David reminds him that the deal might not go through when he sees Patrick’s reaction. They put a pin in this conversation for now (a longer harder conversation is probably coming) and David offers Patrick half of his muffin.

Team Rosebud Motel returns to Schitt’s Creek and tells everyone the exciting news. Everyone hugs and they pop some Zhampagne to celebrate. This is happening!
