Who says the ‘S’ word isn’t in Simon Cowell’s vocabulary? That is certainly not the case after he both publicly and privately apologised to Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins after taking a swipe at her during a recent episode of Britain’s Got Talent.

During Aliki Chrysochou’s performance of “Come What May” during the 1 June BGT semi-final, Cowell’s feedback on her performance included: “I was not expecting that from you tonight, you are stunning, beautiful, humble. What’s interesting is, with Katherine Jenkins taking a big dip at the moment, maybe your time has come”.

However, in an about face, Cowell took to Twitter the next day to publicly apologise for his comments, posting: “Sorry Katherine. X.”

He also apparently reached out to the classical star privately as she revealed in her own Tweet responding to the criticism of Cowell: “Don’t be too hard on …He did also send a proper apology by way of text

Jenkins left her label Warner Music at the end of May saying that she was “sworn to secrecy” about where she was heading next. Digital Spy cited press reports that suggested her severing ties with Warner was due to her losing the label an estimated seven-figure sum. Jenkins has denied the rumours saying, “This is a happy time for me personally and as an artist, so please do not be concerned by nonsense reports in the press”.
