Our favourite go-to selfie network, Snapchat, is apologizing for its recent increase in spam. Following a series of spam related complaints this weekend, the photo-sharing app is apologizing, and promising that they are currently working towards fixing the issue reports DigitalSpy.

In a blog post on its website, the company behind the app said, “We’ve heard some complaints over the weekend about an increase in Snap Spam on our service, we want to apologize for any unwanted Snaps and let you know our team is working on resolving the issue.”

A leak that recently meddled with the service’s system on January 1 is believed to be unrelated to the recent problem.

The company went on to write that they expect to lessen the amount of spam on the app, but spam is inevitable as the service has garnered so many users so quickly. Users have been advised to alter their settings to “Only My Friends.” Well, doesn’t that just bring back old Facebook memories?

Just a friendly reminder that you can block accounts on Snapchat. Unfortunately, there has not yet been a facility introduced that enables users to report spammers. Send your unflattering (or flattering) selfies carefully my friends, privatize your user name and send photos with caution.
