Nas has been a household name in rap and R&B music over the years, done a bit of acting, is the entrepreneur of his own label, is the associate publisher of Mass Appeal magazine and owns a Fila store. However, he’s now looking to get even more involved with some behind-the-scenes action of the silver screen.

Having previously featured on soundtracks such as The Departed, Project X and Creed, Nas will not only produce the soundtrack for Steve Caple Jr.’s forthcoming Sundance film, The Land, but will also serve as an executive producer alongside Charles D. King, Poppy Hanks and Jennifer Levine. The production will be helmed by Priority Pictures’ Lizzie Friedman, Greg Little and Karen Lauder, along with Tyler Davidson, Blake Pickens and Stephen Love.

Scheduled to premiere during the NEXT section in 2016′s Sundance Film Festival, The Land follows four boys that want to escape the streets of Cleveland. The teenagers sit down an entire summer to try their chances at professional skateboarding, before they get involved with a local drug boss, which brings their own relationship into trouble.

The Land stars the First Lady of Neo-Soul Erykah Badu, The Kings Of Summer’s Moises Arias, Snitch’s Rafi Gavron, 12 Years A Slave’s Michael K. Williams, Sons Of Anarchy’s Kim Coates, well-known rapper Machine Gun Kelly, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. and Ezri Walker.
