Texas Official Refuses To Apologize For Nuclear Facebook Post

A post shared by the Texas Agriculture Commissioner, Sid Miller’s Facebook page has created controversy by suggesting that Muslim countries should be nuked. The post was a photo of an atomic mushroom cloud, with the following text “Japan has been at peace with the US since August 9, 1945. Its time to make peace with the Muslim world”.

The post was on the 60th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki, which resulted in Japan’s surrender to the United States. The killed and injured is believed to be in the tens of thousands.

The post was deleted on Monday morning, however, Miller’s spokesman, Todd Smith has blamed staff members for the post. He told The Texas Tribune, that they will not be on a “witch hunt” to find who posted the picture, and even that he thought it was “thought provoking”. He believes that America is facing “a similar enemy [to Japan] who vowed to destroy American lives, and i think thats the topic that American people are focused on”. Smith also said that Miller has had worries of America becoming a “Muslim country”.

Miller has yet to release an official apology.
