Huffington Post and CNN reported that Marvel’s feral X-Man made $55 million dollars at the domestic box office and $86.1 million in the international box office.

While the film did recoup its $120 million budget, the FOX film fell below the studios’ high expectations.

Meanwhile, horror film The Conjuring, came in second place with $22.1 million and continued to gain momentum through the weekend. The R-rated thriller recouped its $20 million budget and has almost hit the $84 million mark since the opening.

Despicable Me 2 came in third place with $16 million and passed the $300 million mark in North America in under 26 days. Gru and his minions are slowing nipping at Tony Stark’s heels as it is closing in on the Marvel movie’s box office total with $660.9 million (they need $100 million to match Iron Man 3’s $760.9 million).
