I need to start this one  on a bit of a personal note; it was on my birthday last year that the five remaining members of legendary sketch comedy troupe Monty Python announced they would reunite. For a huge Python fan like myself, this was amazing news. But their live performances were limited to the O2 Arena in London leaving Python fans all over the world, myself included, to be slightly disappointed. Even so, I remained hopeful that the Pythons would find some way to let their international fans get in on the special event. Today our dreams were answered as it was confirmed that the performances would be broadcast live in cinemas all over the world.
The show is entitled The Last Night of Monty Python and will see John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin, Terry Jones and Eric Idle take to the stage in London and perform some of the group’s most legendary sketches for the first (and last time) since 1980, when they performed at the Hollywood Bowl. The performances will be broadcast live to over 1500 cinemas around the world.
The Last Night of Monty Python will be performed in June this year. A list of cinemas that will broadcast the special event is not yet available, but lets hope that all us Python fans will be able to get a chance to see these five men in action for the final time (perhaps a DVD release would be nice as well).
Until then, check out the classic SPAM sketch right now!
