Tom Hiddleston will return to the stage to act opposite Mark Gatiss to play the title role in Shakespeare’s tragedy Coriolanus, reports The Guardian.
Hiddleston famous for his role of Loki in The Avengers, will act opposite Sherlock and Doctor Who writer Mark Gatiss, on one of London’s smallest stages – the Donmar Warehouse.
Thats right, Loki and Mycroft on the same stage – somewhere Thor and Sherlock are wondering where their brothers are. Just take a minute to see those two characters interacting.
Hiddleston told The Guardian that the show is a play for our time. He said “the fate of Coriolanus dramatizes the conflict in the heart of every public figure: the war between integrity and popularity; the difference between military action and politics; the debate between public responsibility and private freedom.”
Coriolanus will mark Gatiss’ first professional appearance in a Shakespeare play.
The production will open in December, and will have a broadcast to cinemas in January to a worldwide audience.
