Agent Carter’s Closet: Life Of The Party And Monsters

In this double edition of Agent Carter’s Closet, we create outfits based on the costumes from “Life Of The Party” and “Monsters!”

Welcome back to Agent Carter’s Closet where I create outfits based on the incredible costumes seen every week on Marvel’s Agent Carter. My goal is to help you put a little vintage flair into your wardrobe with affordable, off-the-rack clothes that are available in a variety of sizes. Not all of us can sew but that shouldn’t stop us from having a completely unique wardrobe sprinkled with some everyday cosplay!

It was another incredible week for Marvel’s Agent Carter as we saw the action really ramp up in this special two-hour presentation of “Life Of The Party” and “Monsters.” So rather than doing two separate posts, I just decided to combine them into one for simplicity.

In “Life Of The Party,” Peg recruited an unlikely ally…sort of. Our intrepid agent busted Dottie out of the clink to aid in their mission to get close enough to Whitney to obtain a dark matter-infused blood sample. Now, I can’t let this article go by without paying tribute, yet again, to costume designer Giovanna Melton. She created a truly stunning evening gown for Dottie that is honestly nothing short of a work of art. The floor-length gown is made from black rayon pebble crepe, lined in red satin and is the perfect dress for our devilish Dottie Underwood. And in all honesty, I couldn’t even begin to find a pre-made dress that could even come close to comparing to this! So, let’s just take a moment to appreciate and then we’ll move on:

Okay, first up, we are going to re-create Peg’s pink and burgundy surveillance outfit. This is a fantastic look that can easily be applied for everyday wear with the high-waisted trousers, a simple blouse and some pumps. Throw in a vintage hairdo and you’re doing some full-on cosplay!

For our version, we have the Party On Trousers from Banned in Bordeaux. They are available in sizes from regular to plus and will only cost you $46. These fantastic trousers also come in six different colors so you can play a lot with a variety of color combinations for this outfit. I found the blouse on Amazon from Port Authority and will cost up to $46 depending on your size. I loved this blouse because it actually had a vintage looking collar and is available in some really nice solid colors that will work well with the trousers.

The sunglasses are from Alternative Measures and they are a very close match to Peggy’s red sunglasses on the show. And the best part is that the glasses will only run you $14! If you want the real thing, you have to go through Old Focals. They recently put a replica pair of Peggy’s sunglasses on eBay and they went for a whopping $345.

The shoes I chose for this outfit are a brand new release from Chelsea Crew. The Twentieth Century Foxtrot Heels are in a gorgeous two-tone pink and burgundy and also available in black and white. These heels will run you $75 but I thought the price was worth it for the unique cut and two-tone color.

In “Monsters,” Peggy and Jarvis team up to get Dottie back after she’s taken by Whitney Frost and Vernon Masters. For this mission, she dons a simple dark blue suit with a cropped jacket and blue blouse. Her navy blue pumps have a t-strap and tear drop cut-out pattern (as we see when she and Jarvis are driving and she slams her foot on the brake when he’s chatting with her about having “two suitors”).

For our version, we’re using the high-waisted Full Moon Trousers in Navy from Banned for $46. They are available in three colors and regular and plus sizes. The Fine And Sandy Blazer is from Modcloth and comes in ten other colors and sizes ranging from extra small to 4XL. The blazer costs $70 but worth the price because you can dress it up or down and we love versatile pieces! The blouse is another one from Port Authority and you can find it on Amazon for $38. And the shoes are the Zest Is In The History Heels in navy from Modcloth for $45.

I have to admit something – I’m a little in love with Ana Jarvis (Lotte Verbeek). That woman is amazing! She’s such an incredibly sweet, level-headed and supportive partner to Jarvis and a real friend to Peggy. The writers made the perfect choice in creating a character that didn’t exhibit any petty jealousy or stereo-typical “mean-girl” attitude; she’s comfortable and confident in her life and her relationship. Hey, Agent Carter writers, have a word with your cohorts writing for other shows, they could learn a thing or two from you! So, I decided we needed to pay tribute to Ana in this edition and  do our best to create her lovely pattern skirt and green blouse set!

For our Ana Jarvis tribute, I found this beautiful vintage inspired skirt with a flower, butterfly and bird pattern at Banned for $49. The top is a simple scoop neck, flutter sleeve blouse in green from J.Crew for $40. The drop earrings were a little pricier than I was looking for at $56,  but they worked nicely and are available in tons of colors. You can find them on Overstock.com. The belt is a Betsey Johnson tie front belt in brown and costs $38 at Amazon. The shoes are called “Dani” by B.A.I.T and are priced at $46.

That’s it for this week! Be sure to check out my previous posts for outfits inspired by other episodes this season. And make sure you tune in for an all-new Marvel’s Agent Carter next Tuesday night at 9/8c on ABC!
