It's the penultimate episode of Supergirl, and it's a decent one. Well, as decent as Supergirl can get, I suppose. Here's what happened:
Supergirl 3x22 "Make It Reign"
Kara, Mon-El, and Alura start working on ways to get back to Earth, and they're hurried along by Winn, who's around when they use crystals to activate Alura's hologram at the DEO. Winn passes on the news that Sam is not doing well. Lena and Alex are working on it, but it takes them a while to figure out that though they thought they rid Sam of Reign, they're apparently still connected and as Reign grows stronger, Sam gets weaker.
And how is Reign getting stronger? Selena, of course. She and two minions are working with Coville in the evil fortress to bring to life a new Reign. However, they run into a few issues. Nothing super exciting, but the biggest one is that they need Sam's blood.
And over at the DEO, Winn's working on some fun new tech including a belt that activates a full-body force field at the touch of a button. He gets coworker Demos to test it by having him punch Winn. Demos also gets a belt of his own. Later, in search of blood, Selena and her minions attack the DEO. Winn uses his belt to save his life once and runs for cover. Kara and Mon-El manage to activate the Alura hologram in time to distract one of the minions (who has gotta be pretty dumb if she can't tell that its a hologram) and through that, they activate the portal that Mon-El and Winn had finally fixed. The three of them (yes, Alura in a snazzy and functional new suit joins them) arrive on Earth in time to join the fight. Only when they do, it's almost too late. Demos grabbed the blood and was on the run from Selena and Alex tried to stop them with Kryptonite bullets, but it wasn't enough. Demos gets blasted by laser vision from all three baddies and even with his force field activated, he still dies. So Selena and co manage to escape the DEO and finish the ritual to rise a new Reign literally from fire. This new Reign was born with a perfect pointy manicure, too, which was nice.
With this new Reign born and active, it's time for the big showdown, and the world knows it as Winn reports that there are sudden powerful hurricanes and earthquakes and they all even look out the window to see windows and bricks falling from buildings all around them. (Though no one moved to save anyone from said falling debris. They all just stood and stared. Nice work, team!). But they're all ready to fight and do their part. Even M'yrnn and J'onn, who were in the middle of performing The Reach (the memory thing that will end M'yrnn's life but in a good way) go over to help. But even the whole gang fighting will be fruitless unless they can weaken Reign, so Sam, though she's very weak, suggests they send her back to the Dark Valley in her mind to gain more power.
And that's how we've been set up for the last episode of the season. As I've said, this whole season has just been hype-less. I've been waiting for the intensity to build or the stakes to get high, but here we are at the end and it's just pretty boring. Is anyone else feeling this too or are you more engaged than I am? And there was so much going on this episode that it just felt weak.
