New Jersey based indie-pop act Bitter’s Kiss has made a big impression since debuting on the scene last year. The act is a passion project for rising vocalist and songwriter Chloe Baker at the urging and assistance of her equally musical father. The duo began putting Baker’s soulful lyrics to music, culminating in the release of a self-titled EP in March of 2015.

Displaying an impressive worldliness and wisdom in her lyricism, Bitter’s Kiss resonated with fans. Baker’s lyrics are supported by her emotive vocals, which float across the thoughtful production on the release.

On the project’s newest single, “No One Will,” Baker vows to protect her heart from the dangers of falling in love over a striding and string-led production. The young musician displays an almost worldly weariness and unexpected awareness as she wishes couples well but realizes that their love may in fact by transient.

Bolstered by this arcane knowledge, Chloe Baker promises to keep her heart to herself. Although she is fearful of love, Baker is far from jaded; she simply realizes that she may in fact be happier and more at ease learning to love herself instead of giving her heart away to a stranger. There is a sense of both strength and faith to her conviction, and Baker seems content with the knowledge.

The accompanying music video was shot on location in Cork, Ireland with production from the acclaimed EPIC Productions Ireland. In the visual Chloe Baker performs the single while relaxing in a bed of wildflowers and on the beach. In later scenes Baker moves her performance into a more urban environment, performing her single while laying in the midst of a city sidewalk as strangers walk past her. There is a strength and beauty to her solidarity. Alone in the bustling city or in the beauty of nature Chloe Baker seems entirely at peace.

With it’s beautiful yet simple scenery, the focus is entirely on Bitter’s Kiss and Chloe Baker’s evocative performance.
