Erykah Badu went to the streets of Time Square to try and make some money. She tried busking, which is another name for putting on a street performance, and recorded her impromptu show on her iPhone then uploaded it to YouTube.
She started singing literally about what she was doing, asking people for money. “Haven’t sold a record in about two years,” she sang. “Haven’t sold a record in a long time. B-tch needs some money.”
Sadly, you can see no one was recognizing Badu. It probably would’ve helped if she sang one of her songs or at least something recognizable. When she was done, she earned herself a $3.60 profit. “We can buy us a juice,” Badu said victoriously.
Badu’s last album, New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh) was released in 2010. Since then, she has made occasional appearances in various documentary films and television shows, as well as a few acting stints on projects like BET’s Real Husbands of Hollywood.
