Disney Channel’s Boy Meets World spin-off has added two more characters to the show.
Peyton Meyer will play the role of Tristan Friar, a boy who attends the same school as the main character Riley. Tristan will also be Riley’s first crush in the series, Disney revealed in a statement. Meyer will also be guest starring on the upcoming season of Dog With a Blog.
As well as Meyer, August Maturo will also be joining the cast as Louis, the little brother of Riley. Maturo has had roles in a variety of shows, including, Weeds and How I Met Your Mother. Teo Halm was already announced as playing older brother Elliot and Sabrina Carpenter will play Riley’s best friend Maya.
The show, named Girl Meets World, will star Rowen Blanchard as Riley Matthews, the daughter of Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fisher) and will be based around Riley as she attends middle school in New York, where her father is a faculty member.
Along with Savage and Fisher, Williams Daniels will reprise his role as the beloved Mr.Feeny in the premiere and Rider Strong (Shawn), Will Friedle (Eric) and Maitland Ward Baxter (Rachel), reportedly, visited the set while the pilot was filming.
Creator Michael Jacobs spoke about the spin-off at the ATX Television Festival, saying,” My feeling is that the premise of the show is about these two girls having a friendship, going off into the world we now know-Girl Meets World will be unique from Boy Meets World in that way. However, it is the child of an original program, and there is no way that I’m not going to include everybody who to be included on this piece, because they’re the genesis of the piece. For me, we may build a new house, but we’re building it on ground, and that ground was ‘Boy’.”
