Digital Spy reported that Colin Morgan, the Merlin actor, will join a star-studded cast including Rupert Grint and Ben Whishaw in Mojo, a play examining London’s underground.
Morgan starred as Merlin on the show. Merlin was young man trying to develop his magical gifts in a Camelot where magic is outlawed.
Morgan’s stage credits include Ariel in The Tempest at Shakespeare’s Globe, Our Private Life at the Royal Court, All About My Mother at the Old Vic ,and the title role in Vernon Little God for the Young Vic.
The production is a revival of the 1995 play written by Jez Butterworth. It examines London’s most infamous district, Soho, and the trials of a nightclub performer on his pursuit of fame in the mid 1950’s.
Mojo will be directed by the former Royal Court artistic director Ian Rickson. The original production previously won a Laurence Olivier Award for ‘best New Comedy.’
Music for the new adaptation will be provided by Stephen Warbeck with Sonia Friedman as a producer.
The production marks Rupert Grint’s debut on stage.
The production opens at the Harold Pinter Theatre on 13 November 2013 (previews from 26 October).
It is booking to 25 January 2014.
