Rumour has it Lea Michele could be returning to the Great White Way with the new Funny Girl revival.

Yes, you read right. Lea Michele told Jonathan Groff in an interview for Teen Vogue that Ryan Murphy had just bought the rights to Funny Girl. She would love to go Broadway, however, she also has some exciting things coming up in the film industry.

Ryan Murphy once dished that he thought Rachel Berry playing Fanny, meaning Lea Michele playing Rachel Berry playing Fanny Brice (not at all confusing), would be a crowd-pleaser.

We all know that Lea Michele is a huge Barbra Streisand worshipper, and therefore it is not unexpected that she would not hesitate, if someone asked her whether she wanted to walk in Streisand’s footsteps. In addition, Funny Girl is both Michele and Murphy’s favourite movie, so it should be a done deal.

However, nothing is confirmed yet. So waiting, or Glee binge watching, is on order until we get our official news.

Lea Michele back on Broadway portraying a former Streisand character, though? Yes, please!

Would you like to see her back in New York on Broadway?
