Marvel’s Infinity War To Feature The Guardians Of The Galaxy

In a recent Facebook video, Vin Diesel confirmed that the Guardians of the Galaxy will make an appearance in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War.

We may not know a lot about Marvel’s latest Avengers: Infinity War, but thanks to Groot voice actor Vin Diesel, we can put a check mark next to another big hero team. In a Facebook Live chat, Diesel confirmed that the Guardians of the Galaxy will be a part of the superhero lineup.

Infinity War is the first of the two movies left to us in the Marvel universe … until they think of something else. While the second film has yet to be named, Infinity War gives us a pretty good idea of where Marvel could be headed for new movie fodder.

According to Hypable, there are supposed to be upwards of 60 characters in Infinity War. In his video chat, Diesel not only shared his award for gaining over 100 million followers, but also the latest news regarding Groot and Co, better known as the Guardians of the Galaxy.

All we can say for sure about Infinity War, besides its growing cast of familiar faces, is that its sequel, which was originally going to be Infinify War, Part 2, will now have its own distinct title.

According to CinemaBlend, directors Joe and Anthony Russo want each Avengers film to have their own identity. They can overlap, but each story will be unique.

“We wanted the movie to be very different and distinctive, you know. There’s certainly cross-pollination between characters and some story-arcs, but you know, the first movie is very clearly Avengers: Infinity War and, in time, we will reveal what the second film is.”

What next?

Rumor has it Infinity War (originally Part 1) is going to be about Thanos and his struggle to find the Infinity Stones, six powerful objects tied to the different aspects of the universe. Each stone, while possessing their own unique power, has been enhanced by “various alien civilizations” over the course of time.

We’ve seen these stones before. Loki has the Mind Stone in his staff, which is what caused the Avengers to distrust each other after Loki was captured by S.H.I.E.L.D.; Jane Foster meddled with and absorbed the Aether; and the Guardians of the Galaxy used the Orb to stop Ronan the Accuser during the Battle of Xandar.

Unfortunately, it looks like Marvel’s character lineup will only be sticking to the cinematic universe, leaving the Netflix and ABC series characters alone. Sorry, Jessica Jones.

According to SlashFilmInfinity War and its unnamed sequel will be the first feature films to be shot entirely with IMAX/ Arri 2D digital cameras and be produced in that unique aspect ratio.

Principal photography for both films will begin November 2016 and go through June 2017.
