Congratulations to Maya Rudolph on the upcoming first birthday of her daughter, and congratulations as well to the actress and comedian for managing to keep the child’s name and gender secret from the media for almost a year!
Rudolph and her partner, director Paul Thomas Anderson, welcomed a fourth child into their family on Aug. 1, 2013, but opted to take advantage of a law that allows mothers who give birth at private homes instead of hospitals more time to file an official birth certificate.
California law requires birth certificates be filed before a child’s first birthday, so Rudolph finally had to let the info go public this week.
So, without further ado, everyone say “Hello!” to Minnie Ida Anderson, named after Rudolph’s mother, late soul singer Minnie Riperton. It looks like lucky little Minnie has parents who are just as savvy as they are talented!
