Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem have become parents for a second time welcoming a baby girl into the world on Monday, according to ¡Hola!.
The actress was admitted to the Ruber Internacional hospital in Madrid, after making her final public appearance two days previous at the Los Veranos de la Villa Music Festival. The 39-year-old confirmed her pregnancy in February saying that she was “tremendously happy and excited”.
The couple, who began dating in 2007 and married in the Bahamas in 2010, are already proud parents to two-year-old Leonardo. During an interview in Vogue magazine in 2011, she spoke about wanting to keep her children from the public eye, saying, “I want my son and my kids – if I have more – to grow up in a way that is as anonymous as possible.”
The actress added, “The fact that his father and I have chosen to do the work we do doesn’t give anybody the right to invade our privacy.”
Both Cruz, 39, and Bardem, 44, will star in Ridley Scott’s The Counselor, alongside Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz and Michael Fassbender.
