The classic Broadway show, Into The Woods, is set for a December release date for the film adaptation. Before the release, however, there were a few changes that had to be made.
Composer and lyricist, Stephen Sondheim, revealed to Digital Spy that Disney has made some slight changes for the big screen adaptation. James Lapine, Writer and Theater legend, decided to take out all of the mature moments (like sexualisation) and made it more of a “Family-friendly” movie.
Sondheim stated:
You will find in the movie that Rapunzel does not get killed, and the prince does not sleep with the [Baker’s Wife]. Disney said, we don’t want Rapunzel to die, so we replotted it. I won’t tell you what happens, but we wrote a new song to cover it.
Rob Marshall directed and the film and stars Meryl Streep, Anna Kenrick, Chris Pine and Emily Blunt.
Into The Woods is set to hit Theaters December 25th 2014.
