CBS is currently looking to complete the cast of its upcoming, superhero television series, Supergirl. With most of the main characters already covered, the latest additions to the list of actors include former Superman-related series regulars, Dean Cain and Helen Slater, as well as Jeremy Jordan.
Dean Cain had the lead in Lois & Clarke: The New Adventures of Superman as Clark Kent back in the 90’s, while Helen Slater starred in the 80’s Supergirl film as Kara. Both of them have now landed as-yet-unknown guest roles on the upcoming CBS series, much like they previously did with Smallville. At the same time, Smash‘s Jeremy Jordan has landed the role of the well-known Toyman, a.k.a. Winslow Schott. The character will now be serving as one of Kara’s co-workers.
Other recent additions to the show’s already busy cast include Grey’s Anatomystar Chyler Leigh, as Kara’s sister Alex, and Homeland‘s David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, a.k.a. Cyborg Superman. Supergirl has already found its main protagonist in the eyes of Glee‘s Melissa Benoist. Shooting for the pilot begins tomorrow, March 4, and even though CBS has yet to give a series order, it’s almost certain at this point.
