An additional glimpse of the fearsome Shere Khan (Idris Elba) from The Jungle Book has at last arrived. Disney was reportedly set to be a huge presence throughout Super Bowl 50 on Feb. 7, 2016, and they followed through. The studio purchased multiple commercial spots but didn’t address what would be advertised during the game. Last week Disney unveiled a super brief teaser which revealed The Jungle Book to be one of the films set to be promoted Sunday night; the teeny, tiny teaser shows a roaring Shere Khan while giving us a glimpse of Baloo directly afterwards. The full trailer aired Sunday during the prime commercials slots.

The Jungle Book, directed by Jon Favreau, is based on Rudyard Kigling’s story and Disney’s animated feature of the same name. This rendition of The Jungle Book continues the pattern provided in the source material’s by following the journey of Mowgli (Neel Sethi), a young boy who has been brought up by a wolf pack. The introduction of Shere Khan (Idris Elba), a Bengal tiger scorned by humans, threatens Mowgli’s continued existence and he finds himself embarking on an adventure filled with self-discovery, questionable “allies” and recognizable friends. Joining Mowgli on his journey is his panther and mentor Bagheera (Ben Kingsley) and Baloo (Bill Murray), the bear who has necessities (did you catch the obvious reference?).

Mowgli also encounters the cunning python Kaa (Scarlett Johansson) and the oh-so-charming orangutan with a hidden agenda King Louie (Christopher Walken). Rounding out the all-star cast is Lupita Nyong’o voices pack mother Raksha while Giancarlo Esposito voices Akela, the alpha male of the pack. The Jungle Book mixes elements of live-action and CGI – the animals and environments are “photorealistic” CGI which enhances the world presented.
