There are few things in life that I love more than a Scottish accent. There’s something about the thick, ruddy burr that sends a chill of pleasure down my spine. Maybe it’s what they do with those “Rs”… it incites fantasies about what else a brawny Scottish laird may be able to do with his tongue.
One such Scot has really caught my attention, and his name is Sam Heughan. He is a verra bonnie laddie with fiery red hair touched by the Gods, a deep throaty burr and hips that were meant to don a kilt.
He also just so happens to star in one of the best shows on television these days, Outlander. In honor of the very first snippets from Season 2 being released yesterday, today’s Thirsty Thursday is dedicated to James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser.
Why do we love Sam/Jamie so much?
Because he started out as this fresh-faced young bairn with rosey lips and eyes the color of the sea.

Because he has a face so perfectly angular that it was clearly fashioned by the Gods themselves, and eyes that are such a spectacularly beautiful shade of blue it appears as though you’re staring into a clear, cloudless sky.

Because Loki’s got nothing him: He walks like a man burdened with glorious purpose. A man that will command any and every room he enters.

Because Sam brought Jamie to life so perfectly that sometimes it feels as though you’re actually living out the books while you watch the show.

Because his perfect, goofy grin could melt even the iciest of souls.

Because he and Caitriona Balfe have the hottest chemistry on TV, and when they touch, the electricity they create crackles through the screen.

And when they share kisses like this one, you find yourself getting slightly uncomfortable… especially if you’re in public.

Because he and Caitriona don’t take themselves too seriously and are stupidly adorable together. I’d like for them to please marry and have beautiful, perfect babies in real life now.
