Chicago Med is the third in a series of shows created by Dick Wolf that revolve around the city of Chicago. The Law and Order creator began the series with Chicago Fire, which spun off Chicago PD. With the success of these two shows and their ability to constantly intertwine, Wolf created Chicago Med, which will be our focus of interest in this article.
The show is in its sophomore season, and we could not be any more in love. We just caught up on this show after catching glimpses each week while awaiting The Blacklist. Also, this series will expand soon with Chicago Justice, which we are looking forward to as well. What we saw in Chicago Med pulled us in, and we can not get enough. 5. One Chicago
NBC came up with this clever marketing tool to tie the three shows together even more. The most amazing thing about Med is how seamlessly it ties in with the rest of the Chicago shows. This one is definitely our favorite, but we don’t believe you could do it correctly without each program.
4. It’s ER
We have missed ER since it went off the air, and, as much as we love Grey’s Anatomy, it will never be able to capture the magic that ER had. Chicago Med feels just like ER in all the best ways. It has a great quality where it almost seems like the show started all over again with a new hospital and new characters but the same magic.
3. The Story
While Grey’s focuses on both doctor and patient drama mixed with insane tragedy after tragedy, Med relies on the real world scenario of life in Chicago, and that’s all it needs. They have sad situations, but something about it always feels much more realistic then other shows like it. And, yes, the docs on this show sleep together and cause trouble, but not just for the sake of it. This show deals with real situations that any hospital staff could face.
2. Dick Wolf
This man brought us Law & Order, which basically gives him our vote on any project he is a part of. He is a genius at creating characters and stories that can live on forever. His One Chicago vision is something many TV creators could hardly imagine, much less bring to reality.
1. Dr. Daniel Charles
He is the hospital’s chief of psychiatry, and he is truly the heart of the show. The role is played by the outstanding Oliver Platt, and this part was written with him in mind. He brings reason to every situation Med‘s doctors and nurses face while battling his own demons behind the scenes. Dr. Charles may even be our favorite character on television right now.
