It’s been exactly one week since Canadian-born superstar The Weeknd released his highly-anticipated dance-pop inspired album, Dawn FM.

The Scarborough, Ontario native has enjoyed massive global success, including 3 Grammy Awards, 19 Billboard Music Awards, and an electrifying performance at the SuperBowl LV Halftime Show in 2021. Furthermore, he has undeniably made his mark as a modern influential figure in pop music history. In addition to his heavy dabbling into the wild world of sex, love, drugs and rock-and-roll, his newly-minted 6th studio album grapples with the concept of the Afterlife and the sobering realities of living la vida loca.
Hauntingly presented as an elderly man on the album cover, the 31 year-old performer – born Abel Tesfaye – tells his story through his very own radio station frequency. In fact, The Weeknd dives into the deep end of his own internal battles with the dark consequences of a carefree and toxic lifestyle.
Setting the internet ablaze with catchy lyrics seems to be an easy feat for the Starboy singer, and the latest album drop was no different. Altogether, scores of fans have rushed to social media to speculate on hidden references in Dawn FM, coupled with guest appearances from Tyler, The Creator, Quincy Jones and Lil’ Wayne.
Additionally, there’s a captivating radio-personality narration from fellow Canadian entertainer and Hollywood superstar, Jim Carrey. With the music video for the first single, Gasoline, hitting 4 million YouTube views in just 2 days, in addition to the single “Take My Breath” appearing in an Summer 2021 Olympic Games promo video, The Weeknd seems to be well on his way to once again topping the music charts in the New Year.
After 7 days of non-stop listening, here are 7 of our favorite Dawn FM lyrics that caught our eyes and ears:
“Oh I don’t want to be responsible for your heart if we fall, ’cause I’ll get clumsy and tear it apart” – from “Best Friends”
“I know temptation is the devil in disguise. You risk it all to feel alive.” – From “Take My Breath”
“But instead you ended up with someone so basic, faceless, someone to take your pictures and frame it… And my new girl, she a movie star” – from “Here We Go… Again (ft. Tyler, The Creator)“

“Let me love you like you need and I’ll make it my responsibility.” – from “Starry Eyes”
“Can’t be your pilot, can’t be your private, make me your obvious, if I ain’t your husband I can’t be your hybrid”– from “I Heard You’re Married (ft. Lil’ Wayne)“
“Said I’m too late to make you mine, out of time” – from “Out Of Time”
“Consider the flowers, they don’t try to look right, they just open their petals and turn to the light” – from “Phantom Regret by Jim”
I listened to Dawn FM with my good friend Abel @theweeknd last night. It was deep and elegant and it danced me around the room. I’m thrilled to play a part in his symphony. ;^• https://t.co/FV2LoKLYVX— Jim Carrey (@JimCarrey) January 3, 2022
