Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart are coming to Broadway this fall! Both will be staring in Harold Pinter’s “No Man’s Land” and Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot”.
In “No Man’s Land” Mr. Stewart will be playing Hirst, a rich and intellectual alcoholic, and Mr. McKellen will be playing Spooner, a poor poet. The two meet in a pub, and Hirst invites Spooner back to his estate for a drink. The play takes place during this one night. The two main characters banter and explore their histories, which may or may not have overlapped.
In Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot” Mr. Stewart is playing Vladimir, and Mr. McKellen is playing Estragon. The play is about two men who are waiting to meet the mysterious Godot, and ponder all aspects of life together as they wait.
