Democracy strikes again, only this time, it’s not a government but a family board game.
Hasbro, the makers of the popular board game Monopoly have just announced that they will be taking the iron piece out of production and replacing it with a new Cat playing piece.
The contest, held via Facebook, gave the 10 million worldwide fans a chance to vote out a piece and vote in the new one. And it wasn’t only people. Large companies such as Zapps.com and Ames True Temper Inc. did everything in their power to push the tokens that represented their goods.
After the announcement, a lot of people were upset with the decision since the iron was one of the original pieces.
However, this is a democracy. The cat won by popular vote and the iron was kicked out of office, and there is nothing that can change it.
So while the iron-lovers complain about this insane democratic vote, cat lovers are happy to see a new animal on the board.
Watch out, Scottie Dog, the Kitty Cat is coming and her claws are ready to dominate.
