One of the many traditions upheld in the Iron Man comics is how often the character’s armor gets redesigned and upgraded. First we were given the white and red Silver Centurion armor with the 80s shoulder pads (how appropriate for that time)
. Then there was the Modular Armor which exposed a bare midriff (guess what era that was from?)
The Iron Man movies have also been doing this as well with the introduction of the Suitcase Armor in Iron Man 2. In that film, fans also were introduced to War Machine, the monochrome armor worn by Tony Stark’s BFF Rhodey. In the upcoming Iron Man 3, Rhodey gets an upgrade from the looks of a new poster just released on the movie’s Facebook page. The poster shows actor Don Cheadle in the red, white and blue model known in the comics as Iron Patriot Armor.
Perhaps this suit is nod to a possible Captain America cameo appearance in Iron Man 3 as the suit in the comics was modeled explicitly on his outfit? One can hope, right?
