In The Vampire Diaries, the line that separates villains and heroes has become even more blurred as the seasons progressed. But two characters who started out as baddies–and even after torturing poor Elena Gilbert–never lost their spots in the popularity chart are without a doubt Katherine and Elijah.

Last week’s episode of the popular vampire series marked the much anticipated return of our favorite doppelganger, Katherine, and it sure looks like the eldest Original may have some unfinished business with Ms. Pierce.

Per Zap2It:
The Atlanta set of “The Vampire Diaries” has recently been transformed into both a bustling NYC street, and a festival in Pennsylvania. Katherine may have committed the ultimate crime against Elena, but after she snagged the cure, she’s not going to disappear again. We can expect her to stick around long enough for her to come face-to-face with Elijah. Could there be a centuries-old romance rekindled?

As if that wasn’t confirmation enough that the two-some will be sharing screen time, fans who were in attendance during the filming of 4×18 were quick to share their snapshots on Twitter. While Nina Dobrev plays both Elena and Katherine, the latter has always been distinguished by her signature curls and sexier outfits.

Viewers of the show will have to wait until late March to find out what kind of interaction will transpire between these two. The series will go on a 2-week hiatus after this Thursday’s episode (4×16) and is set to return on March 14, giving 4×18 an expected air date of March 28.
At the moment we are left with more questions than answers: Have Katherine and Elijah been working together all along to steal the cure? Where will they be meeting: New York, Pennsylvania, or Mystic Falls? Can we expect sparks to fly between them?
Tell us your theories, PopWrapped readers! We have plenty of time to speculate.
