Joss Whedon’s latest television venture S.H.I.E.L.D., a television show set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has released precious few details about the show.
However, we got a slightly clearer picture today of the show’s dynamics thanks to an interview Whedon had with TVLine.
The show, which has not been officially picked up by ABC (but there is a LOT of hope), will bring something a little bit different to both the small screen and the MCU.
“I’m excited about the show because it’s a very hopeful show,” said Whedon, “It’s not about murder, and it’s not about crime, and it’s not people looking into their own belly buttons. It’s about people who are trying to help each other, and that’s one of the things I loved about comic books. They had costumes and the villains were cool [but] they stood for something, and I like doing a show that does that.”
While the show takes place in the MCU and will strongly invoke its source material, don’t expect rampaging guest stars and cameos. Whedon said that he would “like to focus on the characters we’ve created for the show”.
It sounds like S.H.I.E.L.D. will be a very interesting show. Fingers crossed that it will be as amazing as we’re all hoping!
