Congratulations to Janet Jackson and Wissam Al Mana! The happy couple are officially married…as of last year, according to a statement made on the singer’s website. Amid rumors of a large and lavish ceremony, Janet revealed that the two were married in a “quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony.” The couple asks for respectful privacy in order to give them time for “celebration and joy.”
Given Jackson’s notorious proclivity for privacy, it’s no surprise that she and Al Mana decided to wait to share their happy news with the public. In 1991 Janet married Rene Elizondo, Jr., but kept the entire relationship a secret until their divorce nearly a decade later.
So, who is Wissam Al Mana? In the simplest of terms, he is a highly successful businessman from Qatar. To be more specific, Al Mana, 37, is a billionaire real estate mogul, as well as the director of Al Mana Retail, with shares in various high-end fashion retailers in Dubai, Doha, Bahrain, and Kuwait. The couple met in late 2009 at an event in the Middle East, just months after Jackson’s split with her longtime boyfriend, music producer Jermaine Dupri.
Jackson and Al Mana decided to give each other wedding gifts in the form of contributions to their respective favorite children’s charity organizations.
