Call it the clash of titans, if you will. American Horror Story is upping the ante in Season 3. Oscar Winner Kathy Bates is close to inking a deal to join the FX hit scarefest as an antagonist/foil to Jessica Lange.
Bates is in talks to play the best friend of Lange’s new character, who turns into her enemy (Wonder what drama caused it?). Details surrounding the third season of American Horror Story have been hard to come by (why so secretive, Mr. Murphy?) but it has been previously confirmed by the head honcho himself that Lange’s new character will be a “glamour cat leading lady,” which is a complete 180 from her gloomy Asylum persona. Murphy gave another crumb in regards to Season 3 by teasing that it will be “more historical in nature” with most of the action taking place in modern day. We will still see different “time periods” and “flashbacks,” a staple of the show.
Along with Lange and Bates, Season 3 of American Horror Story will be a reunion of other faves from the series: Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga and Frances Conroy have all signed up to be scared to death this go round.
